Job Title: Deli Cashier
FLSA Status: Hourly
Reports To: Deli Manager
Responsible for ensuring that all company policies and procedures are being followed and that department goals are being obtained. Contributes to store sales and profitability by effectively managing all aspects of the hot bar/salad bar such as stock levels, cleanliness, and customer service. Also responsible for better servicing our guests who wish to purchase beverages, deli and grocery items throughout the day increasing sales and profits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Provide customer service to guests
Cashier and check out guests' items if wanted to purchase right away
Assist guests with finding items they are looking for
Take special orders (fried chicken, wedges, mashed potatoes, etc.)
2) Help market products by demoing
Scheduled on a daily basis
May demo Signature Items, Stock-Ups, Surprise Buys, Salads, Spreads, Cheese, Dips, etc.
May come from behind the counter to walk around with a tray of samples
3) Keep everything clean and tidy
Entire case must be clean and organized
Wiping down hot bar, salad bar, and wing and olive bar during slow periods
4) Maintain and fill supplies
Fill salad and hot bar containers when needed
If running low, a list of inventory needed should be given to a deli manager
Fill condiments and silverware
Deli Cashier is not allowed to leave hot bar/salad bar island
5) Assist Salad Bar and Hot Bar personnel
Notify these employees when stock level is low in all areas including soup, salad bar, hot bar, and the sandwich case
May fill items as needed and when asked
6) Required to maintain food safety logs.
7) Ensure all quality standards are being met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm.

Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and all personnel
Good oral communication skills
Knowledge of perishable foods
Must be neat and clean in appearance, friendly, and inviting
Requires proper training and knowledge of the following equipment/procedures: knives, baler, trash compactor, burner, shams
Must be able to encourage guests in a sincere way to try a sample of one of our products
Must understand cooking instructions and be able to communicate these easily with customers
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Stand in one place for a long period of time, bend, stoop, and kneel regularly
Lifting up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis
WORK SCHEDULE
The Deli Cashier position is a part-time hourly position scheduled less than 28 or less hours per week
The shift to be worked will be 10am-6pm, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
