Purpose:
To place orders, expedite the shipments of raw materials to all Bemis Divisional locations as requested.
Basic abilities and knowledge to perform the below duties and responsibilities. Requires management support and supervision to handle low to intermediate issues. Basic materials knowledge, communication skills and problem solving. Building positive customer and supplier relationships. Works effectively with team members, peers and management. Has a positive and flexible attitude.
Responsibility:
Place orders with suppliers, from purchasing requisitions as requested by material planning, the procurement department or R&D personnel.
Works with material planners to ensure raw materials are available to meet manufacturing's need.
Expedite raw material orders as requested, resolve shortages, and follow through on late deliveries using contacts with supplier customer service, sales representatives and freight carriers.
Create and maintain purchase orders in multiple ERP systems.
Monitors and directly orders specified raw materials based on min/max levels or other specified replenishment or stocking program.
Works with suppliers and Bemis plants to maintain railcar stocking programs to meet specified levels.
Recommend invoice payment based on approved price list or price index. Resolves discrepancies to insure proper payment for raw materials. May need assistance with complex discrepancies.
Initiate basic level of price quotes as requested.
Facilitate dialog between manufacturing, inventory control, accounts payable and supplier to resolve basic inventory, delivery, and quality or price discrepancy issues.
Maintain monthly forecasts for specified raw materials.
Prepare, maintain, and review procurement files, reports and price lists.
Miscellaneous administrative duties to complete the above responsibilities.
Provide back up for other procurement team members.
Participate in special projects as & Experience Required
4 year college degree preferably in business or equivalent experience, with one year of relevant business experience.
Experience in procurement, customer service, accounts payable or inventory control is highly preferred.Skills & Abilities Needed
Requirements:
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
Ability to learn and use internal Bemis systems.
Ability to learn Bemis and supplier product names and product categories.
Above average organizational skills.
Professional verbal and written communication skills.
Effective problem solving skills.
Above average math abilities.
Comfortable with high volume e-mail and telephone contact.
Accurate data entry.
Ability to professionally respond to multiple priorities accurately and on time in a fast paced environment.
